This is where it all started for Team Richard and Sandy. We were two professional musicians, engaged to be married to each other, and pulling for the Democratic candidate in 2008. Then Sarah Palin was foisted upon us by the GOP. We were flabbergasted that a person who couldn't put a coherent sentence together could possibly be that close to the presidency of the United States. (We never could have dreamed of The Bloviating Cheeto.). Sandy has been a hockey mom since 2003. Palin said she "spoke for all the hockey moms". Well, every time she said that, Sandy would mutter "Don't Speak For Me, Sarah Palin". Being theater people, the next step was obvious. Sandy wrote the lyrics in an hour on the exercise bike at the gym, Richard said "What key would you like it in, Dear?", we fired up our tiny little Canon camera with the lispy speaker, and 2 weeks later had a million hits on YouTube. I guess a lot of people felt the same way.
